Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Lite 2005
I took the 3 disc installation and used a program called nLite to combine all the installation discs all into one. This version is slimmed down and optimized for performance and yet has a slicker look than the original, thanks to nLite and another program called Xpize.
Advantages of my version of Windows Media Center Edition:
-the s number is already inserted;
-Windows is already pre-configured for security;
-many annoying things about Windows have been disabled;
-Xpize has been integrated to further enhance the look and feel of MCE (slick new icons, startup pic, and wallpaper).
Some things that are important to note:
-Internet Explorer has been removed and replaced by Firefox.
-Outlook is also gone.
-Windows" logging everything you do has also been disabled.
-Alexia spyware that is usually packaged with XP has been removed.
-Minimum system requirements have also been disabled so you can install it on just about any computer.
-Pretty much anything that is not needed has been removed.
-Other little stuff such as autorun has been disabled (because newer music CDs can secretly install crap that can keep you from ripping CDs).
-And just the annoying stuff like balloon tips that constantly remind you that you are low on disk space or you have unused icons on your desktop.... they have been disabled.
I have tested this disc and it works very well.
NOTE: after intstalling, you must run the patch for MCE. It will kill the annoying reminders to register with Microsoft.
After installing, just open the CD-Rom and you will find the patch. Along with ZoneAlarm Security Suite.
ZoneAlarm Security Suite is also included. It secures your computer from viruses, spyware, spam, IM security holes, etc. It is one of the most popular firewalls inthe world.
The s number needed to register it is also included.
This is an image file that must be burned to a CD-R. Use a burning program like Nero, Alcohol 120
